Steelers fans are absolutely thrilled with new placekicker Chris Boswell. After injuries to Shaun Suisham and Garrett Hartley, replacement kicker Josh Scobee was a source of stress, frustration, agony, distress, mental breakdowns, and heartache for fans everywhere.
After Week 6, there is proof that Boswell is not just a great player relative to Josh Scobee. He is a great player, period. Boswell won AFC special teams player of the week honors after his astoundingly reliable, competent, and otherwise fantastic performance in the Week 6 game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Despite rain and the always-difficult conditions at Heinz Field, Boswell made all four field goal attempts, including a 51 yarder that he absolutely nailed. He also made all of his extra points, something Scobee struggled with week after week. In fact, Scobee missed four field goals and an extra point during his short time with the Steelers.
With Ben Roethlisberger injured, it is likely the team will depend more on Boswell for field goals, and after two weeks Boswell has proven he is reliable.
