Snap counts for Steelers vs. Chiefs point to Martavis Bryant becoming the true No. 2 receiver

Take a look at the Pittsburgh Steelers' depth chart and you'll see Martavis Bryant's name behind Markus Wheaton or Antonio Brown as the No. 3 WR. The snap totals vs. the Chiefs say otherwise.

If you ever meander over to the Pittsburgh Steelers official website and find the most current depth chart, you might be shocked at the wide receiver position. Of course Antonio Brown is listed as the top wide out, and such a fact shouldn't surprise anyone. Brown is one of the best receivers in the league, and most fans would be searching for Martavis Bryant's name to be next on the depth chart across from Brown.

If you are searching for Bryant's name, you'll have to look for the WR3 position to see Bryant as a backup to Markus Wheaton. This simple fact has been known since Ben Roethlisberger gave Wheaton a ton of vocal support throughout training camp, and became especially poignant when Bryant was suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season. However, since Bryant has returned he has been the team's No. 2 receiver, despite what the depth chart says.

Against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7, Bryant played 37 snaps, while Wheaton only saw 27. This in a game which relied heavily on the passing game to get back into the game in the latter portions of the contest.

Snap totals can be revealing in regards to a plan the team had heading into the game. as well as trust between coach and player. See what the total snap totals were for the Steelers in their 23-13 Week 7 loss.
