Despite coming off a Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Pittsburgh Steelers now put all their focus and energy into the biggest game they've played in 2015. Their Week 8 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals certainly has a make-or-break feel to it, but the question of which players will be available to the Steelers on Sunday at Heinz Field is very much in the air.
At Mike Tomlin's weekly news conference Tuesday, he addressed such an issue, and the following players were listed on the injury report.
LB Terence Garvin, who suffered a knee injury in last Friday's practice, has been ruled out against Cincinnati this week. Other than Garvin, Tomlin is planning on taking a wait-and-see approach to several players' potential participation in this crucial week of practice.
Tomlin stated that Stephon Tuitt (knee), William Gay (shoulder), Mike Vick (hamstring) and Will Allen (ankle) will all attempt to participate in some capacity this week. Their ability to participate without any setbacks will likely determine whether they will be on the field Sunday, or if they will miss another week of action.
Two players who had missed time previously, Jarvis Jones (hip) and Ryan Shazier (shoulder), suffered no set backs, according to Tomlin, and are set to continue their way back to regular participants on the field. However, the biggest news of the conference was the organization's statement on Ben Roethlisberger returning to the team. According to Tomlin, unless a setback occurs, the team holds no reservations on playing Roethlisberger against the Bengals this Sunday.
