The Pittsburgh Steelers recently gave restricted free agent cornerback Antwon Blake a one-year tender to the tune of $1.5 million dollars. How does Blake repay the Steelers in the short term? By being arrested in California this past weekend for public intoxication, per a TMZ.com report.

According to the report, Blake was arrested by local police in Oceanside, CA early Sunday morning for walking around intoxicated outside of bars in the downtown area. Also according to the report the local law enforcement held Blake to allow him to sober up before releasing him.

Although such an incident is normally shrugged off as nothing, under the NFL's new personal conduct policy players being arrested can find themselves facing punishment by Roger Goodell and the league office.

On top of possible league ramifications, the fact the Steelers are relying on Blake to be a large part of their secondary in 2015 makes his off field issue so troubling. Blake is one of only three cornerbacks on the team's roster with significant experience on their resume. Blake, William Gay and Cortez Allen look to hold down the team's secondary heading into next season.

The Steelers released the following statement regarding Blake's arrest, "We are aware of the report and are still gathering information," per Steelers spokesperson Burt Lauten. "We will have no further comment at this time."
