Art Rooney II: Steelers have 'no update' on Troy Polamalu's future

The future of Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu continues to hang over the organization, and when team president Art Rooney II met with reporters Friday, he gave no update on the situation.

Pittsburgh Steelers team president Art Rooney II met with a select group of local media Friday to discuss everything from free agency to the upcoming owners meeting. One question which was guaranteed to be brought up was the future of Troy Polamalu.

Polamalu's camp has been mum on the situation since stating Troy is still weighing his options for his playing career. Other than that, the Steelers organization hasn't given many updates and said they will take their time and allow Polamalu the chance to make his decision on his future.

Rooney echoed that sentiment with media when he offered 'no update' on the future of Polamalu. Could it be the Steelers are hoping he returns to the lineup and are only waiting to see if he does indeed retire? Seems far fetched as Polamalu's health and play have declined over the past few seasons, and the team could save upwards of $6 million dollars if Polamalu is given the tag of a post-June 1st release.

Nonetheless, if the Rooneys are anything it is loyal, and they are certainly displaying that loyalty throughout this entire situation. However, at what point does running a multi-billion dollar business trump the loyalty they show one of the greatest defenders to ever wear the black and gold?

It certainly is a tough decision, and one which doesn't seem to be getting resolved anytime soon. Until that time, the Steelers will keep uttering the same sentence - No update.
