Pittsburgh Steelers Friday Night 5 questions and open thread

It seems like forever since the Steelers played a game, but there is one right around the corner. Time to spend some time with fellow fans of the Terrible Towel on this Friday night.

Phil Sears-USA TODAY Sports

In just over 48 hours the Pittsburgh Steelers will be making their home debut against the San Francisco 49ers, and to say the fan base is a little uneasy about this game is a huge understatement. The thought of the Steelers stumbling out of the gate to an 0-2 start, combined with the most difficult schedule in the league has several fans on the edge of the precipice.

Well, if you are one of those fans, this is your time to talk it out with fellow fans of the Towel as the team, and fans, prepare for the 49ers this Sunday.

You know the rules, state your beverage, answer the questions to the best of your ability, and please refrain from any discussion about the "unwritten rules" of baseball and sliding technique.

Let's get this started...

1. The Steelers defense has a lot to prove, and neither the pass rush or the secondary has been a standout component of this mediocre unit. Which aspect of the team's defense will improve first? The pass rush or the secondary?

2. The Steelers have their first home game Sunday, which means Heinz Field and Steelers Nation across the globe will be celebrating the game in their own way. What is the one thing you always do before, during or after every game?

3. Time for some X's and O's. If you were Todd Haley, what would be your offensive philosophy heading into the game Sunday? The 49ers' defense is weakest in the secondary, would you try to exploit that, or remain balanced? No need for a 10-play script, but how would you attack this stout defense?

4. James Harrison played more than Jarvis Jones in Week 1, and the same can be said about Bud Dupree on the opposite side. Should the coaching staff keep more of a count on these two players' snaps, or let the game dictate their effectiveness and how much they play?

5. On Sunday, when the dust settles around 4:00 p.m. EST, who will be leaving Heinz Field victorious, and give me 2 players who were the key players in the victory for their respective teams.

That's all folks! Have a great Friday evening, and be sure to stay tuned to BTSC all weekend for the best Steelers coverage on the internet. Here we go Steelers!
