The Pittsburgh Steelers have until 4:00 p.m. EST to trim their roster from 75 to 53, and the organization has already started the process by releasing 7 players Friday. There will be 15 more players who will be released Saturday, and keep track of who is being given the green light to hit free agency and who is staying.
As most of these players are eligible for the practice squad, if they clear waivers and aren't signed by another team, it will be worth staying plugged into BTSC for all the news surrounding not just cut-down day, but also who are the 10 players the team has signed to the practice squad as well.
Below is a list of players who have already been released, and the list will be updated throughout the day as news of more players being released is reported.
WR Shakim Phillips
OLB Howard Jones
DE Ethan Hemer
CB Kevin Fogg
LB L.J. Fort
WR Jarrod West
DL Mike Thornton
UPDATE: Per ESPN's Jeremy Flower, B.W. Webb has been released from the team.
Steelers have released third-year cornerback B.W. Webb, according to a source. #steelers

The move is moderately surprising as both Webb and Fogg, two players reportdely battling for a cornerback spot on the team's 53-man roster have both been released. This could open up a roster spot for another position which lacks depth, like the offensive and defensive lines.
UPDATE: Per Ed Bouchette, Doug Legursky, and Shakim Phillips released from the team.
More Steelers releases: Reese Dismukes, B.J. Finney, Doug Legursky, Kevin Fogg, B.W. Webb, L.J. Fort, Shayon Green, Howard Jones..;.

Bouchette also expects Legursky to be signed to the team once Maurkice Pouncey is officially placed on the short-term injured reserve.
Steelers will sign another OL once they put Pouncey on short-term IR. Legursky may be top candidate

Cockrell took Gerod Holliman's number, 31, which suggests to some that Holliman might not even make the practice squad.
Cockrell taking Holliman's number. Tin foil time. Sign the rookie won't make the practice squad, either. https://t.co/wRJZ2tEycp
