Steelers continue to shuffle their practice squad as they release OL Reese Dismukes

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to adjust their 10-player practice squad on Monday, and did so by releasing OL Reese Dismukes who spent the entire preseason with the team.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a team which has depth issues, and when other teams with quality depth at certain positions let players walk, the Steelers are claiming them without hesitation. After signing their initial 10-player practice squad Sunday, the team has already made several roster moves. In fact, 5 players who were initially slated to be a part of the practice squad are now free agents.

The most recent transaction was the signing of OL Barrett Jones, and releasing OL Reese Dismukes. Dismukes spent the entire preseason with the Steelers, but as evidenced by the moves earlier Monday, and Sunday, the team is looking for the best players available, not who has been with the team the longest.

As pointed out by Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, only 3 of the 10 players on the Steelers current practice squad spent the entire preseason with the team. However, this number could increase if draft picks Anthony Chickillo and Doran Grant clear waivers and the team decides to bring them back as a part of the practice squad. Clearly, the return of those two defensive players would have half of the practice squad being with the team since the start of camp.

If you haven't realized it yet, the Steelers are not done making moves as 'the month of the transaction' continues. Stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news surrounding the black and gold.
