The Pittsburgh Steelers roster has been decimated by the injury bug. Last week they had 9 players who were ruled out of the Week 5 game against the New York Jets at Heinz Field. It got so bad the team placed Ryan Harris and Senquez Golson on the injured reserve list so they could fill out the 46-man game day roster.
When roster moves need to be made to accommodate the game day roster, you know things are bad. However, as Mike Tomlin mentioned in his Tuesday press conference, some of the walking wounded should be able to return to the field in Week 6 as the team travels to South Beach to play the Miami Dolphins.
The players who returned to practice as full participants were Robert Golden (hamstring), Justin Gilbert (knee), Roosevelt Nix (back) and Eli Rogers (toe). This is good news for the Steelers, especially on the defensive side of the football, but not all news was good after Wednesday's workout.
Wide receiver Sammie Coates (lacerated finger) and Markus Wheaton (shoulder) both did not practice on Wednesday. Coates isn't likely to practice this week, but still could be available to play on Sunday. Both Cameron Heyward and Shamarko Thomas have both already been ruled out for the Week 6 contest in Miami.
