The Pittsburgh Steelers play Tom Brady and the New England Patriots on Sunday at Heinz Field in Week 7 action in the NFL. Pittsburgh is dealing with some major injuries on their roster, none bigger than the knee injury to Ben Roethlisberger, and head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media Tuesday to talk about the Week 6 loss to the Miami Dolphins, the Patriots game and the injury situation.
In regards to Roethlisberger, Tomlin pointed to his statement which was released Monday, but he did state Roethlisberger will not be in the lineup this Sunday vs. the Patriots. There likely won't be any update on the injury situation until the team returns from their bye week and begins preparing for the Baltimore Ravens in Week 9.
There was some other news for the black and gold on the injury front as there were some new injuries announced from the loss in Miami. Mike Mitchell (knee), Robert Golden (foot) and DeAngelo Williams (knee) could all be limited in some way in the early portions of the week.
Other injuries to keep an eye on leading into the game Sunday: Markus Wheaton (shoulder), Ryan Shazier (knee) and Marcus Gilbert (foot/ankle). Tomlin stated their practice participation will ultimately lead to their availability, so keep an eye out for the injury report coming after the first reported practice on Wednesday.
As always, there are those who won't be participating in this week's contest. Tomlin announced both Cameron Heyward (hamstring) and Cody Wallace (knee) as out for the upcoming game against the Patriots.
The Steelers and Patriots will kickoff at 4:25 p.m. EDT at Heinz Field on Sunday. Stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes heading into the big AFC matchup.
