Steelers Injury Report: Ladarius Green a no-show in first opportunity to return to team practice

New, comments

The Pittsburgh Steelers were hoping to get a new tight end back at their disposal in Ladarius Green after coming off the PUP list, but after the first practice of the week, Green didn't practice.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers have the toughest test of their 2016 regular season ahead in Week 7 when the New England Patriots come to Heinz Field Sunday. The injuries on the team will certainly play a role in this matchup, and there are some key injuries on the roster. However, one player who is eligible to return to the practice field in Week 7, of course talking about Ladarius Green, did not return to practice.

The team did not release anything on why Green did not return, and Green himself said he did not have any timetable for his potential return.

Other than Green, the fact Marcus Gilbert, Cameron Heyward, Markus Wheaton and Ben Roethlisberger did not practice means the team will extremely short handed at several positions. It means more Chris Hubbard, more Javon Hargrave and Ricardo Mathews, more Sammie Coates and Eli Rogers and clearly more Landry Jones. Not a ringing endorsement for the black and gold, but certainly valuable experience for some young players.

The players who did return to practice were notable. Particularly Ryan Shazier. Shazier returned to the practice field for the first time since he was injured in the Week 3 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Robert Golden and Mike Mitchell both were all limited in practice.

It is still early, but Shazier, Golden and Mitchell certainly will be key injuries to watch as the week progresses. See the full reports for both the Steelers and Patriots below.
