The Pittsburgh Steelers have had injury issues this season. In retrospect, that might be putting it lightly. After watching players like Cameron Heyward and Markus Wheaton head to the season-ending injured reserve list, the team has been forced to insert and promote players to try and cover up the gaping holes left in their absences.
While it has become routine for Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin to start all of his post-game press conferences with a quick run down of injuries, the best news of the day following the Week 11 win was actually no news at all.
Tomlin came, and went, without talking about any injuries, the first time this happened during the 2016 season.
The news of no injuries couldn’t have come at a better time considering the Steelers have a short week to prepare for another big road game against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12 on Thanksgiving night.
There are a few injuries to keep your eye on, even on the short week, and that would be the injuries to both Xavier Grimble (quad) and Jordan Dangerfield (groin), who were inactive Sunday due to their respective injuries. Shamarko Thomas (groin), DeAngelo Williams (knee) and Darrius Heyward-Bey (foot) could all be closer to joining the team, but more information won’t be known on those players until Mike Tomlin’s press conference which will take place on Monday, not the usual Tuesday time, as they approach Week 12.
