NFL denies report of Steelers deflating footballs in Week 13

The NFL has released a statement stating the footballs were checked, and the Steelers aren’t at fault.

NFL: New York Giants at Pittsburgh Steelers Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Less than an hour before the Pittsburgh Steelers squared off against the Buffalo Bills in Week 14, there was a report from FOX Sports stating the New York Giants were going to report the Steelers for deflating footballs in their Week 13 game at Heinz Field.

Fans feared the worst...Deflate Gate 2.0.

However, the NFL wasted little time responding to Jay Glazer’s report.

"The officiating game ball procedures were followed and there were no chain of command issues," the NFL said in a statement Sunday. "All footballs were in compliance and no formal complaint was filed by the Giants with our office."

On top of that, the Giants have also said they have not filed a complaint.

"We did not file a complaint," a Giants official told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Seems like a big to-do about nothing, but I doubt this goes away immediately. After Tom Brady and the New England Patriots’ fiasco over the past two seasons, the NFL likely won’t take to these reports lightly, even if false.
