Steelers Injury Report: Some big names are question marks heading into Week 16

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a trio of key injuries heading into the Baltimore Ravens game in Week 16.

Heading into the Week 15 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Pittsburgh Steelers were a relatively healthy team. In fact, they only ruled out two plays prior to the game Sunday. However, as games against the Bengals usually go, there were several injuries of note following the game.

After the first series of the game, Stephon Tuitt left the game with a knee injury. After the game Mike Tomlin had no update for the media, but stated Tuitt will be evaluated throughout the week to see his availability for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens at Heinz Field.

Unfortunately, Tuitt’s knee wasn’t the only injury of note. Tight end Ladarius Green left the game with a concussion after a big fourth quarter first down reception. Tomlin stated he has been entered into the NFL’s concussion protocol, and will have to clear all the necessary tests before returning to the field. It is safe to say his availability for Week 16 is in jeopardy.

Defensive end Ricardo Mathews left the game with an ankle injury, and was able to return to the field, but Tomlin didn’t have much information regarding the injury.

Tomlin will meet the media on Tuesday for his weekly press conference at noon, but as usual, practice participation will ultimately be the deciding factor for the players who are injured and if they are able to return to the field of play.

The Steelers will host the final two games of the season, both AFC North matchups, starting with the Ravens on Christmas day, and finally the Cleveland Browns in Week 17. Stay tuned to BTSC for the latest injury news and updates surrounding the black and gold.
