Pittsburgh Steelers give ILB Vince Williams 3-year contract extension

The Pittsburgh Steelers gave ILB Vince Williams a 3-year contract extension, locking him up with the team through 2018.

It was expected the Pittsburgh Steelers were going to have some new contracts written this preseason, but most wouldn't have guessed inside linebacker Vince Williams would be first to get a new deal. Not that he doesn't deserve a new deal, but with names like Le'Veon Bell, Antonio Brown and David Decastro looking for new contracts, it would be natural to overlook the backup linebacker.

The move is a good one for Pittsburgh, as the Florida State product simply oozes what it means to be a member of the black and gold. He proved himself worthy of more snaps in 2015, and will likely take over alongside Ryan Shazier in 2017 with Lawrence Timmons' contract in it's final year.

To put the cherry on top of this entire situation, Williams announced the signing on Twitter like only he can.

Congrats to Williams on getting a new deal, and now the Steelers front office has to turn their attention to some other players, mainly DeCastro, to get a new contract done prior to the start of the 2016 regular season.
