When it comes to potential distractions for an NFL football team, having one of your more beloved coaches being arrested the day after a big Wild Card win would rank near the top.
For Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebackers coach Joey Porter, last Sunday was a night to forget. After the team’s big win over the Miami Dolphins, Porter went to Pittsburgh’s South Side to enjoy the evening. What ensued afterwards resulted in Porter being detained and arrested.
Although the Allegheny County District Attorney dropped almost all charges against Porter after reviewing the surveillance video, the Steelers kept Porter on “leave” — until Friday morning.
The Steelers have officially reinstated Porter to the coaching staff, and he will travel with the team as they head to Arrowhead Stadium for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday.
Porter released the following statement regarding the incident:

Steelers President, Art Rooney II, also released a statement regarding Porter’s incident, and his reinstatement:
The Steelers reinstatement is official starting Friday, but the team will wait to potentially discipline Porter after the legal proceedings have taken place. Porter’s court date has been set for January 19th.
