The Pittsburgh Steelers said they wanted to sign their own before they look outside the organization for any help, and they have done just that in the week following their AFC Championship loss to the New England Patriots.
A day after Roosevelt Nix and Cobi Hamilton signed one year contracts with the Steelers, safety Jordan Dangerfield was up next to ink a one-year deal for the league minimum.
The #Steelers will sign S Jordan Dangerfield to a one-year, $540,000 contract today, according to an industry source

The trio of recent signings were all Exclusive Rights Free Agents, which means he is a player whose contract has expired and has three or fewer tenured years in the league. His original team must make a contract offer by the league imposed deadline or the player becomes an unrestricted free agent. No compensation is awarded for losing EFAs.
The signing of Dangerfield makes sense in a lot of ways. With Shamarko Thomas likely to take his talents elsewhere as a free agent, the team could use the special teams ability, and depth at the safety position, Dangerfield possesses.
While many fans have been wondering why players like Hamilton and Dangerfield were re-signed, it isn’t as if they were getting paid millions of dollars. In fact, they all are making about the league minimum for their time in the NFL.
