It is no secret I am a fan of Vince Williams. Not only has he reached out to BTSC in the past for some discussion, but he is by far the most open, and honest, player on the Pittsburgh Steelers roster.

A very thoughtful, and entertaining, follow on Twitter, you can always put money on Williams providing good insight into a variety of topics. The most recent topic which caught his attention were fines handed out to defensive players for “targeting”.

Check out what he had to say:

He brings up great points, and outlines the current predicament the NFL faces while trying to protect players’ heads, but not having defenders chop down opponents’ knees.

Player safety is paramount in football today, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t processes, and methods, which can be changed and alter to better suit the game we all have grown to love.

In the meantime, if you don’t follow Williams on need to start.
