As the Pittsburgh Steelers prepare for the Houston Texans in a Week-16 matchup on Christmas Day, a large part of the fan base is wondering just what needs to happen for the Black-and-gold to clinch a first-round bye this week.

There’s a chance this won’t happen at all, but the scenarios are out there, and you might as well get the correct scenario straight from the source itself.

Below is the official Steelers playoff clinching scenario in the current AFC Playoff picture heading into Week 16, per the team’s official website.

The Steelers have already clinched the AFC North Division and a playoff spot, but there is a lot on the line when they take on the Houston Texans on Christmas Day.

The Steelers could clinch a first-round bye with a win over the Texans, combined with a Jacksonville loss or tie. The Jaguars play at San Francisco on Sunday, Dec. 24 at 4:05 p.m.

The Steelers can also clinch a first-round bye if they tie the Texans, and the Jaguars lose to the 49ers.

Looks like Steelers Nation will be San Francisco 49ers fans this weekend.
