The Pittsburgh Steelers and their fans received an update on Ryan Shazier’s status Wednesday afternoon, and although it was a small update, it was significant.

It was announced while at UPMC, Shazier underwent spinal stabilization surgery last night to help repair the injury to his spine.
While it was once thought the lack of surgery was a positive, with the thinking his injury didn’t need to be surgically repaired, the news of him having a surgical procedure now shines a brighter light on what looks like could be a long road back for the Steelers linebacker.
The team had no further update on Shazier’s status, likely because they won’t know the success of the surgery immediately. Nonetheless, if/when more information is released, you can expect to find out the latest right here at BTSC.
In the meantime, if you are the praying type, Shazier could use all the prayers he could get. If you aren’t that type of person, positive thoughts never hurt in a situation like this. Football now becomes secondary, and the health and future of Shazier moves to the forefront, if it hadn’t already.
