Super Bowl 51 Picks: Predicting the winner of Patriots vs. Falcons

BTSC contributors pick the winner of Super Bowl 51, and the prognostications are a cornucopia of chaos.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

What a season it has been for the contributors at BTSC.13 of us picked every single contest of the 2016 season and to modify a quote made famous by Charles Wright (WWE's The Godfather) the only thing that we proved was that "pickin' ain't easy'. Brett Foreman won the regular season and the trio of Tony Defeo, Zach Parnes and Robert Hitchcock will win the postseason at 10-1 if the Pats win. Should the Falcons fly away with the Lombardi, there will be a five-way tie of victors with those three and Flip Fisher and Jeff Hartman at 9-2. I will occupy the basement regardless of the winner. Check out the full postseason standings below.

After perusing that reading bonanza, check out who we think will win the Steeler-less Super Bowl. With seven selecting New England and five for the Falcons, it's anybodys game. Enjoy the Super Bowl and slap the first person that exclaims, "I'm just here for the commercials". And yes...even if it's your mom.

Super Bowl LI

NE Patriots vs. Atlanta Falcons

Anthony Defeo

NE 38-ATL 21

Falcons young defense no match for the masterful Brady who now has the most Super Bowl wins for a quarterback

MVP

Tom Brady

Brett Foreman

Atl 34-NE 31

Dan Quinn has this defense ready and the Atlanta offense is too much even for the mighty Patriots. Ryan and Julio combine for over 200 yds.

MVP

Matt Ryan

Dan Sager

NE 31-ATL 24

I think this is going to be one of the top five Super Bowls ever (provided that you like offense). Objectivity aside (I believe New England is simply a better team), Brady’s revenge tour has been great to watch, and I would like to see Goodell have to hand Brady two trophies and shake his hand after the absurdity that was the DeflateGate scandal.

MVP

Tom Brady (who else)

Eric O’Connell

ATL 28-NE 21

The Falcons are able to do what Le’Veon Bell and the Steelers couldn’t: establish a productive running game that opens things up for quarterback Matt Ryan. By sharing carries Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman are both able to stay fresh and wear down the Patriots.

MVP

Devonta Freeman

Fear94

NE 24-ATL 16

Defense wins championships and this year will be no different.

MVP

Devin McCourty

58Steel

NE 29-ATL 27

I hate the Patriots. I hate the Patriots. I hate the Patriots.

I hate the Patriots. I hate the Patriots. I hate the Patriots.

I hate the Patriots. I hate the Patriots. I hate the Patriots.

MVP

Tom Brady

Flip Fisher

ATL 42-NE 24

The game is going to be a letdown with the Falcons dominating every facet of the game.  The Dirty Birds will bring the pressure Brady rarely saw in 2016.

MVP

Matt Ryan

Jeff Hartman

ATL 38-NE 35

The Atlanta Falcons win this one in a shootout, and although Ryan wins the MVP, Julio Jones cements his own legacy with a ridiculous game, and the game-winning TD catch. Patriots lose, and all is right with the world...

MVP

Matt Ryan

Mike Frazer

ATL 35-34

Atlanta scores in the final minute to do what the Seahawks failed to do a few years ago.

MVP

Julio Jones

Robert Hitchcock

NE 31-ATL 24

I really hope I’m wrong about this. I really do. But NE is equipped and experienced to acquire yet another Lombardi Trophy. Matt Ryan and his gang of birds have never experienced a stage like this before. The pressure and emotions will get to them. And to top it off, the night will end with Goodell having to akwardly hand the Lombardi Trophy to Brady. Brady’s revenge is fulfilled.

MVP

Tom Brady

Zach Parnes

NE 31-ATL 20

I just really dislike hearing from my friends who live in Massachusetts how good Brady is. Let's get this shit over with, and more importantly let's pray I'm wrong.

MVP

Giselle

Bryan Davis

NE 38-ATL 33

Bill Belichick is combination butthole and freaking genius. And as much as I would rather clean all the bathrooms in Heinz Field with my tongue than watch the Patriots win, he’s going to have a plan. Actually, he's going to have a great plan and those wangs are going to win and there’s nothing Atlanta or anybody else can do about it.

MVP

Us...for having to deal with Tom Brady winning it
