Steelers Ben Roethlisberger gets to see fruits of his foundation’s labor with K-9 police units

The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation continues to do good work throughout communities around the country with K-9 police units.

For Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, there is no denying he has been in the news for all the wrong reasons throughout his NFL career. Whether it was the motorcycle accident, rape allegations or even the rumors which swirled around the Steel City regarding his overall negative demeanor around town.

A lot of bad publicity.

While most would put the pedal down on the good publicity, trying to spin their way back in the public eye, Roethlisberger took a different route. He got married, started a family and kept an extremely low profile. You don’t hear much from Roethlisberger off the field, and that includes his foundation’s work with K-9 police units throughout the country.

In fact, you rarely hear Roethlisberger talk about his foundation’s successes at all throughout the season. In other words, he does the work for the good of the police force, and not for his own benefit (i.e. — good publicity).

While Roethlisberger will buy new K-9 dogs, or supplies, for police departments around the country, it is awesome to see how his foundation’s money is helping these police units.

Just recently the Cape Coral Police department posted these videos of their new obstacle course and equipment which were all provided by Roethlisberger’s foundation.

You can see the videos below:

The Steelers two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback has been helping police departments for the majority of his NFL career, mostly behind closed doors.

Roethlisberger had this to say about his foundation via his BigBen7.com website:

“My Dad instilled in me a love and respect for animals. This is a good way to combine that passion with a desire to support the police and fire departments, which deserve all the appropriate resources needed to protect our cities and neighborhoods, and allow these brave men and women to arrive home safely.”

Here at BTSC, we wanted to shine some light on the good Roethlisberger, as well as his teammates, are doing off the field to help use their celebrity in a positive way.
