The time between the NFL Draft and training camp can be absolutely mind numbing for NFL fans. Die hard followers want to cling to every repetition throughout Organized Team Activities (OTAs) and minicamp, when in reality the season doesn’t really start until the players report to training camp.
Fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers have resorted to yelling about Le’Veon Bell’s absence from minicamp, as well as why Ben Roethlisberger and Martavis Bryant haven’t had their “heart-to-heart” conversation since Bryant’s reinstatement to the league.
The one aspect of the team which can be discussed throughout the offseason are the rookies. The Steelers now have all 8 under contract, and T.J. Watt has been turning heads from the media, position coaches and even Mike Tomlin. His preparation and overall understanding of the game has been tremendous, but the true praise will come at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA.
See what Watt had to say about how the offseason has been to this point:

While everyone has been gushing over Watt, offensive coordinator Todd Haley spoke to the media about some rookies on his side of the football. The first, and most obvious, was JuJu Smith-Schuster, who Haley said has a “chance to compete”. If you follow Haley and his comments about players, this is about as good as it could possibly get from the coordinator. Haley also mentioned Josh Dobbs, stating he looks like a rookie, but is an extremely intelligent player who is continuing to work his butt off on a daily basis.
See what Haley had to say during his media session below:
