Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier will be a little light in the wallet this week, considering he was just fined $25,000 for his late hit on Browns quarterback DeShone Kizer in Week 1 action.

The hit, which was also flagged by officials for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty for roughing the passer, was viewed as dirty to some spectators, and the NFL league office clearly agreed with that sentiment.
However, anytime a player is flagged for roughing the passer in any way, they can expect a letter from the NFL league office stating they won’t be getting a full paycheck this week due to the infraction on the field.
If Shazier likes his money, he will be extra cautious of quaterbacks who are giving themselves up and sliding on a play. Whether you, or he, likes it or not, the rule is in place for a reason — to protect the faces of franchises. Looks like Shazier is learning this the hard way.
