Steelers trade CB Ross Cockrell to the Giants for conditional draft pick

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made another trade on cut down day.

It has been an eventful cut down day for the Pittsburgh Steelers. After trading Sammie Coates to the Cleveland Browns, the team has traded cornerback Ross Cockrell to the New York Giants for a conditional draft pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

This trade could have been predicted after the acquisition of Joe Haden. Mike Tomlin called the preseason competition between Cockrell and Coty Sensabaugh as a "two dogs, one bone" battle, and it is now clear who won the battle.

Cockrell, who was playing under a Restricted Free Agent tender is in a contract year, and the Steelers getting compensation for a player who wasn’t going to play, or likely be back next year, is a good move by the organization.

Stay tuned to BTSC for more on this trade as well as the team’s final 53-man roster.
