Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2017-2018 season officially over, many fans continue to wonder the status of injured linebacker Ryan Shazier. They all saw Shazier in a wheelchair at the team’s facility leading up to the playoffs, and sporadic social media posts had the majority of the fan base thinking everything was still the same.
However, the latest update for Shazier came from University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Thursday:

The statement reads:
“Ryan Shazier was discharged from the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute at UPMC Mercy today, and will transition into an outpatient therapy program through the UPMC Centers for Rehab Services.”
This alone would be good news, as it means Shazier is progressing through the rehabilitation process. But then Shazier took to social media to show himself standing, with a little help from Ben Roethlisberger.
It has been a long time since fans have seen Shazier standing, and even if it is supported, these are encouraging signs for a man who talks about his return to football, not just walking.
Shazier continues to improve, and Steelers fans everywhere must continue to SHALIEVE!
