The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the few NFL teams that has remained relatively healthy throughout the first two weeks of the regular season, but that doesn't mean the team isn't dealing with injuries.
Nose tackle Steve McLendon (shoulder) and rookie running back/wide receiver Dri Archer (ankle) were both held out of team drills Monday and only participated in individual drills. Wide receiver Lance Moore, who has yet to suit up for the Steelers in 2014, returned to full participation in practice Monday.
Looking at this injury report can lead to some adjusting of the active roster this Sunday when the Steelers travel to face the Carolina Panthers.
If McLendon's shoulder injury forces him out of the lineup, the Steelers will move Cam Thomas to the nose tackle position and rookie Stephon Tuitt would see increased reps. This would also mean that fellow rookie nose tackle Daniel McCullers would most likely get a helmet for the first time in his young career.
McCullers would see the field in a limited role and on special teams, but would get a chance to put something on tape that isn't a preseason game.
If Moore is given the green light to start vs. the Panthers, the Steelers could leave wide receivers Darrius Heyward-Bey and/or Justin Brown inactive Sunday depending on Archer's availability. Between the two receivers one would think Heyward-Bey would get the active role considering he plays a more prominent position on special teams compared to Brown.
These players nursing injuries could all be fine by Sunday night and this might turn into a moot point. But at the same time, if a couple of them aren't able to play due to injury, you might see some new faces in uniform on the Steelers' sideline for the first time this season.
