AFC Playoff Picture: Who the Steelers should be rooting for in Week 15

The Pittsburgh Steelers control their own destiny by winning their final 3 games on their schedule, but who else should they be rooting for in Week 15 to help ease their route to the AFC Playoffs?

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers play the Denver Broncos in a huge AFC matchup with severe playoff implications for the home team. The fact remains, if the Steelers win Sunday, despite what any other teams may do in Week 15, they will move into the 6 seed of the current AFC Playoff Picture. If the team wins their final 3 games of the regular season, they will clinch a spot in the postseason, again, regardless of the result of any other team. In that, they still control their own destiny with a record of 8-5.

In Week 15, there are some teams Steelers fans should be keeping an eye on outside of Heinz Field, but before we take a look at the schedule, it is time to review the current AFC Playoff Picture heading into Week 15:

1. New England Patriots - 11-2 - BYE
2. Cincinnati Bengals - 10-3 - BYE
___________

3. Denver Broncos - 10-3
6. New York Jets - 8-5

4. Indianapolis Colts - 6-7
5. Kansas City Chiefs - 8-5

In the hunt:
7. Pittsburgh Steelers - 8-5
8. Oakland Raiders - 6-7
9. Buffalo Bills - 6-7
10. Houston Texans - 6-7

Looking at the Week 15 schedule, there are plenty of game which could have an impact on the Steelers and their final push to the postseason. Tine to take a look at those games below, and who fans should be rooting for in each game.

New York Jets @ Dallas Cowboys

This Saturday night game could have significant implications considering the Jets have the No. 6 seed and are above the Steelers due to a better conference record. If the Cowboys can defeat the Jets, it would be great news for the Steelers and their playoff hopes. No doubt about it, root for the Cowboys to win this game.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Baltimore Ravens

Just like the Jets, the Chiefs are ahead of the Steelers due to a head-to-head win as well as a better conference schedule. Therefore, any loss to the Chiefs will help the Steelers road to the playoffs a lot easier. In this game, root for the Ravens...I can't believe I just typed that.

Cincinnati Bengals @ San Francisco 49ers

If the Steelers have any hope of winning the AFC North, they will need the Bengals to lose at least 2 of their last 3 games. With AJ McCarron at quarterback nothing is certain, so in this game root for the lowly 49ers to beat the Bengals in on the West coast.

Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts

This could be the biggest game on the Week 15, in terms of what is on the line. The winner of this game will be in the driver seat for the AFC South championship and the 4th seed in the AFC Playoffs. The Steelers won't be impacted much by the outcome of this game, but the loser will no longer be considered "in the hunt" of the playoff race.
