On day three, we jump back to the offense focusing on the offensive line with one of the many high draft picks on the lethal Steelers offense.
Player: Maurkice Pouncey
Position: Center
School: Florida
Overview: Much has been made about the injuries to the Steelers skill players that were lost due to injury or suspension in 2015, but curiously many people leave out the season long loss of center Maurkice Pouncey due to a broken leg. Perhaps it's because of the high level of play from the Steelers offense but the loss of Pouncey was a big one for the Steelers. He's been to four Pro bowls and twice been selected as an All Pro. Cody Wallace was a great fill in, but Pouncey doesn't take many penalties and is a superb run blocker. It's probably not a coincidence that Rashard Mendenhall and Le'Veon Bell's best seasons occurred with Pouncey anchoring the offensive line. The good news is that by all accounts Pouncey is back to business and looks completely healthy in OTA's, receiving rave reviews from the NFL Network's Aditti Kinkhabwala saying " OK, I know everybody looks good in shorts. But man alive, Maurkice Pouncey looks like a man on a mission." You can understand why Pouncey would be a man on a mission, in five years he's played 16 games twice, missed the entire season one, and fifteen games once. He also was injured in 2010 when the Steelers went to the Super Bowl If the Steelers have Super Bowl championship dreams a healthy Pouncey is going to be a big part of that.
