2016 Steelers Roster, 90 in 90 Days: Marcus Tucker tries to catch a spot in the organization

In a new feature at BTSC, we are breaking down the Steelers 90-man roster one player, one position, one day at a time. The conclusion of this feature will be the start of the 2016 season.

Player: Marcus Tucker

Position: WR

School: Northern Michigan

Overview: As the first official roster cut is a little over 48 hours away this has to be a very nerve-wracking time for players on the bubble of the roster. The Steelers cut their roster down to 79 players today with four more players set to leave by 4 pm on Tuesday. One of the players hoping to survive another round of cuts is wide receiver Marcus Tucker. You may remember Tucker as the player that had coach Mike Tomlin call his mother on Mother's Day and was captured on video.

Tucker played his ball at Northern Michigan where in addition to playing wide receiver he returned kicks as well. Tucker was also a two-time captain and two time team MVP while in college. At only 5'10 190 lbs. Tucker is another small wide receiver that will draw comparisons to Antonio Brown. He's quick and runs clean routes that allow him to create separation. He's also not afraid to go over the middle of the field and will extend his hands to make a catch away from his body. Unfortunately, Tucker hasn't been getting to many reps at either kick returner or wide receiver in the actual preseason games. As an undrafted player it's possible he's going to need time to refine his skills. Don't be surprised if he's one of the players cut before Tuesday's deadline.

Strengths:
Team captain in college-respected by players and a leader
2-time team mvp in college
Agility
Hands

Weaknesses:
Being out played by Eli Rogers thus far
Needs to add muscle to deal with NFL press coverage
Not getting enough reps to show what he can do.

Chances of Making the team: 10%
