2016 Steelers Roster, 90 in 90 Days: Antoine Everett looks to take the next step

In a new feature at BTSC, we are breaking down the Steelers 90-man roster one player, one position, one day at a time. The conclusion of this feature will be the start of the 2016 season.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Player: Antoine Everett

Position: Guard

School: McNeese State

Overview: The fourth and final preseason game is in the books and thus the final chance for the players on the bubble to impress the coaches enough to earn a roster spot. For tackle Antoine Everett this is a familiar situation as he just missed making the Buccaneers roster last year and is hoping he can make the Steelers 53-man roster this year.

Everett played guard at McNeese State but he could also play tackle if need be in the NFL. With the injury to Marcus Gilbert to start the year, the Steelers may opt to begin the season with extra depth along the offensive line which Everett could take advantage of. His NFL draft profile notes he's a smart player with a great football intelligence. That should come in handy because Everett is going to be a project for the coaches as his technique needs some work from the coaching staff. Depending on how well he plays tonight and how much work the coaches think he needs Everett could end up just missing the roster again.

Strengths:
Size
Gets off ball fast
Smart
Tough competitor-will finish blocks
Pass protection
Could play tackle or guard

Weaknesses:
Doesn't maintain blocks for entire play
Technique - particularly in run game
Doesn't consistently block well in the second level

Chances of Making the team: 15%
