If you are talking to a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, bring up the name Ladarius Green and see what they say. There is a good chance some of the responses look, or sound, like this:
"What a waste of money."
"Too bad the Steelers bought damaged goods."
"The guy should just retire after all those concussions."
Green had a rough year last year, there is no doubting that, but fans of the black and gold need to realize a few things surrounding the situation.
Although criticism for the Steelers not knowing about the injury can be justified, there is no way they could consider concussions into the equation when they were thinking of signing Green.
It was all an extremely unfortunate situation from the start, but fans should be excited about the future, and not dwelling on the past. Why? There weren’t many complaints when Green was on the field averaging nearly 17-yards per reception in his limited time on the field.
There is a large contingent of the fan base which is thinking Green will retire, or is hoping the Steelers will cut ties with their free agent acquisition. However, if you are wondering if concussions will derail his season, just look at a superstar hockey player just down the road in Pittsburgh.
Sidney Crosby has battled concussions throughout his career, even suffering one to start the 2016-2017 season, and he is still considered the best player in the game as he leads the NHL in goals at the point where this was written/recorded.
Yes, there is hope for Green, and fans should be excited about Green, not only seeing the potential negatives of the deal.
