Steelers Injury Report: Ben Roethlisberger and DeAngelo Williams return to practice

The Pittsburgh Steelers had a laundry list of players who missed practice Wednesday, but two big names returned to practice in some capacity.

The Wednesday practice report was certainly depressing for fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers. With names like Ben Roethlisberger, DeAngelo Williams and Ryan Shazier all missing with their own specific injuries, many were left wondering what the roster might look like when the Cleveland Browns come to Heinz Field Sunday.

The injury report was still lengthy, but two big names returned to practice in some capacity.

The return of Ben Roethlisberger to practice is certainly a step in the right direction for his return, but his return in a limited basis is far from a certainty he will play this Sunday. What is possibly bigger news is DeAngelo Williams not just returning to practice, but being a full participant. This points to Williams being ready to carry the football for the black and gold for the second straight week.

Roethlisberger and Williams weren't alone in returning to work, Marcus Gilbert, Isaiah Pead and Steve McLendon all practiced fully on Thursday; however, not all injury news was good. Ryan Shazier, James Harrison and Shamarko Thomas all missed practice with knee injuries, while Matt Spaeth has already been ruled out for this week's game.

Joining Roethlisberger as limited practice participants were Darrius Heyward-Bey and Terence Garvin. The Steelers final tune-up practice will be Friday, and if players like Shazier, Harrison and Thomas expect to be in the lineup, they should be at least a limited participant in Friday's workout.
