When talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos Week 15 showdown, it brings up discussion about what truly rules the NFL in 2015. You have the best defense in the league with Denver, going against the one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL with the Steelers. It truly could come down to this offense vs. defense matchup which could decide who leaves the game victorious.
There are plenty of marquee matchups in this specific aspect of the Week 15 game. Ben Roethlisberger, Markus Wheaton, Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant and DeAngelo Williams against DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller, Aqib Talib and Chris Harris. These matchups will certainly magnify the game within the game from this point of view.
However, the matchups which aren't being discussed is the Broncos' defense, quarterbacked by Brock Osweiler, going against the opportunistic Pittsburgh defense. The Broncos' offense has struggled since Peyton Manning left the lineup with a foot injury, although his double digit interceptions certainly didn't help the offensive cause in the Mile High city.
Meanwhile, the Steelers defense embodies the "bend-don't-break" mentality by giving up a ton of yardage through the air, but doing their job and standing tall in the red-zone when it matters most. The Steelers have done a tremendous job taking the football away, and did so three times against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14. The Steelers will need this trend to continue to give their offense more possessions against the vaunted Broncos' defense.
So, who will win this game? The Steelers are surprising 6.5-point favorites to win, but we want to know what you think? In terms of my pick, this is a game with huge playoff implications for the Steelers. Not only does this game have playoff implications, but the Steelers last home game in the 2015 regular season. Playing at home with the Steelers offense clicking on all cylinders it is tough to pick against the black and gold.
Jeff Hartman's (BTSC Editor) Prediction:
Steelers: 23
Broncos: 17
