When the Pittsburgh Steelers placed Cortez Allen on injured reserve, and promoted Tyler Murphy to the active 53-man roster, the writing was on the wall that the team was going to be turning to Landry Jones at quarterback, and Ben Roethlisberger would most likely be inactive.
However, a recent report from ESPN's Adam Schefter states Mike Tomlin hasn't closed the door on Roethlisberger playing Sunday.
Steelers HC Mike Tomlin is waiting until the last possible minute to determine whether Ben Roethlisberger will play today vs. KC, per source

Whether this is nothing but blowing smoke, a diversion to deter their Week 7 opponents the Kansas City Chiefs, or it is actually true will be known in a couple hours.
It seems unlikely Roethlisberger would play after the team gave nearly all the first-team repetitions to Jones this week in practice, and Roethlisberger never being listed as a full participant in practice throughout the work week. Nonetheless, history tells us Roethlisberger will be lobbying to take the snaps against the Chiefs, and it seems Tomlin will be listening until the last possible second.
