Steelers ILB Ryan Shazier ruled out of Monday night game vs. San Diego Chargers

In an odd sequence of events, the Steelers have ruled out Ryan Shazier for their Monday Night Football game against the San Diego Chargers.

At a time when the Pittsburgh Steelers thought they would have both Martavis Bryant and Ryan Shazier back in their lineup in their Week 5 matchup against the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football, the team will certainly be without Shazier and possibly Bryant as well.

The Steelers released their final injury report Saturday, a day later considering the Monday night game, and Shazier joined Ben Roethlisberger as being the only players ruled out for the game. Shazier injured his shoulder in the team's Week 2 win over the San Francisco 49ers, and hasn't seen the field since.

The injury is another lingering injury which has plagued Shazier, a growing trend with the second year linebacker. Leading up to the game Shazier repeatedly said the decision on his playing time was ultimately up to head coach Mike Tomlin. Obviously, Tomlin didn't feel the injured shoulder which he labeled as "bumps and bruises" from playing the game of football, will keep No. 50 out of the lineup for the third straight week.

Other than Shazier, Cortez Allen (knee) is listed as questionable, while Matt Spaeth (hand), Ross Ventrone (hamstring), Daniel McCullers (knee) and Markus Wheaton (ankle) are all listed as probable.

The Steelers will try to win their first game in the state of California since their 2005 win over the Chargers on Monday Night Football.
