Early odds on the Pittsburgh Steelers at St. Louis Rams Week 3 game

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off of a big victory at home against the 49ers, but as the Steelers take their show on the road against the Rams in Week 3, Vegas sets their odds accordingly.

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue their roller-coaster 2015 regular season, losing in disappointing fashion in Week 1 to the New England Patriots, then rebounding in a big way at home against the San Francisco 49ers. Now, the Steelers go back on the road to face the St. Louis Rams.

The Rams are on their own roller-coaster in 2015. Defeating the reigning NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks in Week 1, then losing on the road to the Washington Redskins in Week 2. With both teams extremely inconsistent in the early stage of the new season, the early odds have the Steelers favored on the road, but not by much.

Of the many Las Vegas sports books, the opening line on the game saw the Steelers as 1.5-point favorites. Every other Vegas book has the Steelers as just 1-point favorites, but the Bovada sports book has the Steelers giving the Rams two points in the upcoming inter-conference game.

As the Steelers are flying high after their 43-point output in Week 2, Vegas sees this game being much closer than many may anticipate. The Rams have an extremely stout defense, powered by a pass-rush in Aaron Donald and company that's built to wreak havoc on opposing offenses.

As the Rams will flash their defense at home in the dome, the Steelers have an additional trick up their sleeve this week as well. But their trick isn't exactly an unknown commodity. Le'Veon Bell will make his 2015 regular-season debut after serving a two-game suspension, and the Steelers will use Bell to keep the Rams off balance and to slow down the pass rush.

This one looks to be a close contest and the early odds echo such a prediction, but the odds nonetheless state that the Steelers are favored in Week 3.
