The Pittsburgh Steelers were able to climb out of their 0-1 hole in Week 2 with a 43-18 victory over the San Francisco 49ers at Heinz Field. The Steelers take their show on the road again in Week 3 when they travel to the Edward Jones Dome, home of the St. Louis Rams.
As the Steelers prepare to play the Rams and their stout defensive unit, it is time to take a look at any changes which might have taken place within the Steelers Depth Chart.
* - Denotes a player who was inactive vs. the Patriots in Week 1
Running Back/Full Back:
RB - Le'Veon Bell / DeAngelo Williams / Dri Archer / Jordan Todman
FB - Will Johnson / Roosevelt Nix
WR1 - Antonio Brown / Sammie Coates *
WR2 - Markus Wheaton / Darrius Heyward-Bey
TE - Heath Miller / Matt Spaeth / Jesse James *
QB - Ben Roethlisberger / Michael Vick / Landry Jones *
RT - Marcus Gilbert / Alejandro Villanueva
RG - David DeCastro / Doug Legursky / Chris Hubbard *

LG - Ramon Foster / Doug Legursky / Chris Hubbard *
LT - Kelvin Beachum / Alejandro Villanueva
On offense, the only change to the team's depth chart was the return of Le'Veon Bell, which forced the team to release WR Tyler Murphy. Despite Murphy being signed to the team's practice squad, the team will likely go into the Rams game with only 4 wide receivers. Such a decision could lead to the first game action of Sammie Coates, a rookie and 3rd round draft pick from Auburn.
LCB - William Gay / Brandon Boykin
RCB - Cortez Allen * or Antwon Blake / Ross Crockell
SS - Will Allen / Shamarko Thomas / Ross Ventrone
FS - Mike Mitchell / Robert Golden
LOLB - Arthur Moats / Bud Dupree
ROLB - Jarvis Jones / James Harrison
LILB - Ryan Shazier / Sean Spence / Terence Garvin
RILB - Lawrence Timmons / Vince Williams
RDE - Stephon Tuitt / L.T. Walton *
NT - Steve McLendon / Daniel McCullers
LDE - Cameron Heyward / Cam Thomas / Caushaud Lyons *
The defensive changes the team might see on the depth chart heading into Week 3 will likely depend on the health of Cortez Allen. Allen, who was limited in practice Thursday, participating in the game could alter the team's plans for the upcoming game. If Allen doesn't play Sunday, the Gay, Blake, Cockrell and Boykin cornerback situation will certainly be the same corps of defensive backs in Week 3. If Allen does play, it will likely lead to either Cockrell or Boykin being inactive Sunday.
KR - Dri Archer / Markus Wheaton / Jordan Todman
PR - Antonio Brown / Dri Archer / Markus Wheaton
K - Josh Scobee
P - Jordan Berry
LS - Greg Warren
There are no real surprises on the team's depth chart, including the updates on the offensive side of the football. The team continues to search for the right mix of players to achieve success and them performing well on the road will be the next step in the team's progression to becoming a championship caliber team.
