The Pittsburgh Steelers and St. Louis Rams were all set for the opening kickoff. The Steelers had won the toss and elected to receive the opening kick when it was made known during the Rams' player introductions the pyrotechnics used caught the field on fire. The turf field then was examined by officials and coaches before announcing it would be a 10-minute delay.

Within those 10 minutes, it was decided the field needed further work and both teams retreated to their locker rooms while the field was worked on and deemed to be playable. The players remain in their locker rooms until they hear word form the NFL the field is ready.

The Steelers and Rams are both 1-1 and are looking to advance to 2-1 heading into Week 4 and to keep pace within their individual divisions. The Steelers are looking for their first road win of 2015 after losing their first road game to the New England Patriots in Foxborough in Week 1.
