The Pittsburgh Steelers are on to the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium, and although Mike Tomlin spent just as much time talking about Antonio Brown’s Facebook Live video at his Tuesday press conference than he did the upcoming opponent, he did highlight several injuries the team faces before the biggest game of the year.

It should be known, before scrolling down to see the list, a lot of these players will be suiting up on Sunday, but their practice participation will ultimately be the key to their playing, not what the coach necessarily says on Tuesday.

Some individuals might be given a day, or two, off to help rest their injuries, but that isn’t out of the norm for a team about to play their 19th game of the season.

James Harrison (shoulder/triceps) - Tomlin said Harrison could be rested early in the week, and he doesn’t see the injury as one which will limit his playing time. Just need to be smart with the 38 year-old body.

Sean Davis (shoulder) - It is starting to look like Davis will be dealing with this shoulder injury the rest of the season, but Tomlin praised the rookie and his ability to rehab his way back before the upcoming game. This injury shouldn’t keep the dynamic defensive back off the field.

Vince Williams (shoulder) - Like Davis, Williams’ shoulder injury probably won’t heal till the offseason, but it won’t stop Williams from playing. He has been a solid contributor on special teams, and is a spark plug for the entire team.

Anthony Chickillo (ankle) - Chickillo has missed the past three games with an ankle injury, and Tomlin said there is a good chance Chickillo could work his way back onto the practice field this week. He is a player to watch in regards to availability vs. New England.

Ricardo Mathews (ankle) - The same can be said about Mathews that was said about Chickillo. Mathews would be a welcome addition along the defensive line as the Steelers hope to stop LeGarrette Blount and the Patriots’ running game down on Sunday. Mathews is quality depth.

Ladarius Green (concussion) - Tomlin said Green remains in the protocol, which shouldn’t shock anyone. Green will have to return to practice before he is ever cleared to play again, so keeping an eye on the practice report will be crucial for Green’s potential return. Even if it is just limited participation, it would be a step in the right direction.

Fitzgerald Toussaint (concussion) - Toussaint practiced last week, but was inactive for the game. He could be on his way back from being cleared, but Tomlin stated he too was still in the protocol. Toussaint was used on special teams, and primarily as a kickoff return man. Justin Gilbert took his place vs. Kansas City with mixed results.
