NFL Expert Picks: Who they like in Steelers vs. Dolphins AFC Wild Card game

New, comments

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins will go head-to-head for the second time this season, see who the experts like in this AFC Wild Card matchup.

Baltimore Ravens v Pittsburgh Steelers

Beating a team twice is no easy task. Every team in the NFL knows this, as they all play their divisional foes twice every season, but on the rare occasion, teams will face up twice in a season, with the latter meeting being for all the marbles in the postseason.

Win, or go home.

That is what is facing the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins on Sunday at Heinz Field as they go head-to-head in the AFC Wild Card game.

For the Steelers, they are heavy favorites to win this game, according to the experts in Las Vegas. The opening line of Pittsburgh being 10-point home favorites was a bit of a shock, but most expected the line to fall before the 1 p.m. ET kickoff; however, the line never moved. A big reason for this happening was the fact the Dolphins ruled out starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill, and will head into the postseason relying on the arm of backup Matt Moore.

Vegas thinks the Steelers, who will have their “Killer B’s” all healthy and ready to go for the first time since Le’Veon Bell was drafted in the 2013 NFL Draft. Vegas is trying to move some money in Miami’s favor, but what about those NFL experts who submit weekly picks?

Let’s take a look at who they are favoring in this AFC playoff matchup.

To be quite honest, when I was researching the usual websites to see which experts picked which team, I was stunned for a lot of reasons. The main reason being how few people gave the Dolphins a prayer on Sunday.

In fact, the experts at ESPN, CBSSports and FOX Sports are all clean sweeps for the black and gold. Not one expert from the aforementioned websites went out on a limb to select the Dolphins on the road.

For all those Dolphin fans out there who stumbled upon this article, there is hope, and it is found in SB Nation’s RVB. He was the only expert in the ‘Big 4’ who thinks the Dolphins stand a chance.

What about the multitude of websites who have experts submit weekly picks, but aren’t in the mentioned websites? This is where NFL Pick Watch comes in. The website, which takes all NFL expert picks and compiles them into one location, has a whopping 97-percent of experts leaning towards the Steelers holding serve at home, and advancing to play the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional round of the AFC Playoffs.

Vegas likes the Steelers as double-digit favorites, and the experts also like the black and gold, but there is a reason why they play the game. With temperatures plunging well below freezing for the 1 p.m. kickoff, anything can happen.
