NFL Picks and Predictions: Steelers vs. Dolphins Wild Card Predictions

The last time out, the Steelers stumbled against the Dolphins. See who the contributors of BTSC think will prevail in the WC rematch and the rest of the playoff slate this weekend.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The BTSC Contributor Challenge is over and Week 17 may have tightened up the final standings, but didn't change them too much. Congrats to Brett Foreman for taking the crown and for Mike Frazer and Fear94 finishing tied for second at three back. Zach Parnes settled for last place, because he picked Cleveland every week.

We aren't done though. Keep here every week as we forecast the playoffs with projected scores and analysis. The party is just starting.

Here's how we think the first week of WC action will shake out.

Wild Card Playoffs

Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers

Oakland Raiders at Houston Texans

New York Giants at Green Bay Packers

Detroit Lions at Seattle Seahawks

Steelers healthy offense too much for Dolphins depleted defense

Surprisingly good game is pulled out by the home team.

Battle of the franchise quarterbacks goes to the home team

Seahawks impressive in first round win

Steelers’ defense plays hard, fast and angry. Ben leads hi powered offense and never trail.

It's a war of attrition and Sebastian Janikowski wins with 4 field goals

Close game as both  quarterbacks lead multiple scoring drives. GB gets winning fg as time expires

Seattle defense too much for Lions to overcome. Russell Wilson plays a great game.

Workman like performance by the Steelers in the cold, blustery conditions

Oakland holds off a late rally to take home the victory.

Green Bay controls the game and advances to the next round with ease.

Seattle comes out on top in a close defensive game.

I don't really have much to offer here. Steelers are a better team and playing at home.

the Texans continue to be successful by virtue of other teams’ misfortune

the last time the giants visited lambeau for the playoffs, it resulted in Brett favre’s (first) retirement. That's irrelevant to this game, but fun to mention regardless

hard to bet against Seattle at home, no matter how overrated they may be

A Dolphins team that nobody expects to compete in Heinz Field shocks the Steelers.

In an exceedingly boring game, the Texans win by outlasting the Raiders

Eli Manning leads a scoring drive late and the Packers aren't able to solve the Giants’ defense

The Lions have been bad my entire life. I see no reason to believe they'll start being good now

Bill O'Brien could reportedly let go if they lose this game, that’s so stupid that I just can’t see Bill not getting his team fired up to win.

Aaron Rodgers team wants to run the table and they want to finally end Eli Manning’s playoff success. It’ll be a close one

I’ve said this ever since the Legion of Boom came into existence, without Earl, they’re nothing.

The killer B’s are too much for the Phins’ D. The Steelers defense holds down Ajayi enough, while the score takes him out of the game late.

Without Carr (McGloin even) to lead the offense, the Raiders defense gets exposed. Bad enough that even the Texans can score.

The Giants strength on offense matches up with a banged up Packers secondary; while their defense continues to show they are the real deal.

Seahawks O-line is atrocious, but the Lions D not good enough to exploit it.

Tomlin will get the team amped up for rematch and the surging defense holds down the Dolphins without Tannehill.

Not even worth watching with 2 teams with QB issues.

Could go either way but expect Eli to throw one of those patented late INTs to seal the loss.

The 12th man gets it done in Seattle.

The Dolphins will be able to run the football, but Matt Moore isn’t good enough to beat an improved Steelers defense.Oh, and Le’Veon Bell is healthy.

This might be the ugliest game of the postseason. However, Khalil Mack might just win the game for the Raiders with a dominating performance.

Aaron Rodgers at home is tough to beat, and the Giants are one of the more overrated teams in the NFL.

The 4th quarter magic was nothing but a disguise for a team who has major issues. The Lions have backed into the playoffs, and fall flat in Seattle.

Miami’s run game will generate some scoring opportunities, but they won’t break through for a TD against one of the best red zone defenses in the NFL more than once. Ben shakes off the recent cobwebs.

Not having Derek Carr will be too much, even against one of the worst playoff teams in recent memory.

Aaron Rodgers has been up and down a lot this year, and has gotten very lucky at times, getting away with awful decisions and worse mechanics. The luck continues for one more week -- but that’s probably all.

Neither of these teams are terribly impressive. Detroit’s defense is good enough to stop the inept Seattle offense, and Detroit’s offense is just good enough to score on the Seattle defense.

Revenge is bittersweet. Pittsburgh’s D shows up this time against Ajayi, and Matt Moore just isn’t quite a playoff QB.

A torturous game to watch. Both offenses are near incompetent, and it becomes a battle of defenses and special teams.

A-Rod in January is no joke. GB is rolling, and the NYG are overrated. Minimal defense to be had this game, as Eli and A-Rod come out swinging.

Seattle has not looked great recently, and after barely beating SF, doubts are high. It’s going to be up to their defense to win this game.

The Steelers learn from their mistakes… Ajayi runs for 2 TD’s however….

Bill O’Brien is playing for his job… And his squad knows it. They will put down the pesky Raiders.

Rodgers. Rodgers. Rodgers. The three reasons this team is relevant.

Wilson with a game winning drive. The Lions accidentally drink Flint water before gametime.

Different team and a different venue. Le'Veon is making his playoff debut, while Ben and AB are playing for legacy.

Going home team here for the sake of a lack of quality QB play.

Rodgers is rolling, but Eli has shocked the Pack in Lambeau in the past. OBJ goes off and the Pack doesn't have the secondary to stop it.

Seattle will flex their muscle at home, as Russell Wilson leads the way. Matt Stafford's bum thumb is keeping him from connecting better.
