Steelers Injury Report: Week 9 not looking good for DeAngelo Williams

While the Pittsburgh Steelers are celebrating the health of many key players, one of their best back ups might be out Sunday.

When the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens play against one another, it would be considered a double chin strap game. The physicality is never lacking when these two teams square off, and it is extremely important to have all hands on deck to complete a winning performance.

For the Steelers and Ravens, the bye week has done them both well as they are now seeing many key players back on the field leading up to the big Week 9 game.

For Pittsburgh, players like Markus Wheaton, Marcus Gilbert, Cameron Heyward and even Ben Roethlisberger are all expected to play in Baltimore this Sunday. Roethlisberger was limited for the second straight day, but DeAngelo Williams, who was also limited on Wednesday with Roethlisberger, was downgraded to ‘Did Not Participate’.

There are occasions where a player might miss practice, but the absence is listed as “Not Injury Related”. This happened to David DeCastro Wednesday, and was due to an illness. However, Williams’ demotion is still listed as a knee injury which has been causing him some trouble the past few weeks.

Williams sat out the game against the New England Patriots in Week 7, and even after the bye doesn’t seem quite ready to get back onto the field anytime soon. There is a chance he practices Friday and is available, but players rarely trend this way prior to a game. What makes this situation even more interesting, if Williams’ knee doesn’t heal quickly, is Karlos Williams who is on the practice squad and waiting for his chance to be activated to the team’s 53-man roster.

Nonetheless, the Steelers remain a team getting some key players back in the fold for this big AFC North battle at M&T Bank Stadium this Sunday. Friday will be the final injury report where players are labeled as ‘Out’, ‘Doubtful’ or ‘Questionable’, stay tuned to BTSC for the latest injury news and updates surrounding the black and gold.
