The Pittsburgh Steelers did more than lose to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. They lost their division lead, and their All-Pro center Maurkice Pouncey. Pounce injured the thumb on his snapping hand early in the 1st quarter, returned and then left the game for good in the second half.
In Mike Tomlin’s post-game press conference he labeled Pouncey’s injury as a dislocated thumb, something which will be addressed when the team returns back to Pittsburgh Sunday evening.
Tomlin didn’t label if Pouncey will be out for any length of time, rather just deferred to his usual Tuesday press conference for more information. Unless they can brace the thumb in some way, it would be difficult for a center to grip the football with a thumb injury on the snapping hand.
Other injuries which occurred during the game were a groin injury to reserve safety Jordan Dangerfield, and a mid-foot injury to receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, who went down hard going deep for a pass in the first half of the game.
The Steelers will host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10 next Sunday. Be sure to stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and information surrounding the black and gold
