Steelers Injury Report: All attention now turns to Ben Roethlisberger's injured knee

New, comments

The Pittsburgh Steelers didn't just lose to the Miami Dolphins in Week 6, they suffered some key injuries...again...in the process.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

In terms of quantity, the Pittsburgh Steelers got out of the Week 6 game against the Miami Dolphins in better shape than the massive amount of injuries they dealt with coming into the game, but the injuries sustained were notable.

The Steelers had only two major injuries during the game, but those two were to significant players on the Steelers' roster. Both Mike Mitchell and Ben Roethlisberger suffered knee sprains during the game. Mitchell and Roethlisberger both returned to the game, but Roethlisberger's knee was noticeably significant in regards to his play after his return.

After the game, Roethlisberger was limping badly in the team's locker room.

The Steelers fell flat on their faces on Sunday, and with the New England Patriots coming to Heinz Field in Week 7, they will need all players healthy and available for them to stand a chance.

Some of the players who could return in Week 7, and could rightfully increase the team's chances of success are:

Ryan Shazier (knee)
Ladarius Green (foot)
Marcus Gilbert (foot/ankle)

Pittsburgh missed a golden opportunity in Week 6 to put a nail in the AFC North coffin, but as the Bengals, Ravens and Browns all lose too, the game next week against the Patriots becomes even bigger for a multitude of reasons.
