The Pittsburgh Steelers have always been a competitive team under Mike Tomlin. Since 2007 the Steelers have never suffered a season under .500. They have shown extreme vulnerabilities against lesser competition, especially on the road, but against top notch competition at Heinz Field the team has been tough to beat. In fact, they haven't been home underdogs of more than a touchdown since 1991.
However, after the Week 6 loss to the Miami Dolphins, and the injury to Ben Roethlisberger, the team is anywhere from 7.5 to 9-point underdogs when the New England Patriots come to Heinz Field Sunday in Week 7 action. The odds aren't with the black and gold, and with the amount of injuries the Steelers have at key positions it should come to a shock to no one just how tough this contest will be for the home team.
However, is there any NFL expert who is thinking the Steelers and Landry Jones can pull off the improbable and shock the football world with an upset of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick? Time to take a look at what the experts think...
I have been writing this weekly article for over 3 years now, and I have seen the Steelers been the heavy favorites on more than one occasion. There have been plenty of times where every expert picks the Steelers, but never have the Steelers been shut out with the expert selections.
And that streak will still stand...
In fact, our friends at NFL Pick Watch, a website dedicated to taking all the NFL expert picks across the internet and compiling them into one easy-to-read graph, has 94-percent of the experts who make weekly selections taking the Patriots in Week 7.
It might be unlikely, but like Lloyd Christmas says in the famous movie Dumb and Dumber, "So you're saying there's a chance..."
