The Pittsburgh Steelers are favorites to represent the AFC in Super Bowl LI. With that in mind, you would expect them to be favored in Week 1 when they visit FedEx Field to play the 2015 NFL East Champion Washington Redskins...and they are. However, the overall point spread from Las Vegas might not be what most are thinking when it comes to this inter-conference matchup.
When Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and DeAngelo Williams step onto the field, most fans would expect them to put up a lot of points and be heavy favorites in the matchup. Nonetheless, the Redskins sport Kirk Cousins, DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Jordan Reed on their side of the field, and now the scales aren't quite as tilted as once imagined.
The early line on this game was the Steelers favored by 2.5-points, but throughout the week the overall betting line has increased to a solid 3-point spread.
With that said, will the Steelers be able go into a hostile environment on the prime time stage and get the job done?
That is the question fans everywhere are asking as they await the Monday night matchup. With Roethlisberger, Brown, Williams and an opportunistic defense waiting in the wings, there is no reason to think the Steelers don't handle their business on the road and return to Pittsburgh with a 1-0 record, but for them to do enough offensively to cover the spread as well.
