Steelers Injury Report: Shamarko Thomas and Dri Archer both injured in victory

The Pittsburgh Steelers were able to escape the preseason without any significant injuries, but after the team's 30-27 victory over the Cleveland Browns, there were a couple of significant injuries.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were able to escape the 2014 preseason without any significant injuries. They weren't so lucky in their 30-27 victory over the Cleveland Browns Sunday at Heinz Field.

Mike Tomlin addressed the media after the win and stated safety Shamarko Thomas is dealing with an Achilles tendon injury, and rookie running back/wide receiver Dri Archer suffered an ankle injury during the game.

Both will be evaluated Monday, but as Tomlin stated, on a short week their injuries could be significant.

After Archer's injury, wide receiver Justin Brown took over the kickoff return duties, and was seen in the slot more frequently. Thomas was replaced by Will Allen in specific packages and on special teams.

The two injuries will play a huge part on special teams, as both are regulars on all ST units.

There were no other injuries of note from Tomlin other than 'bumps and bruises' of playing the game, but a more detailed injury report is expected to be released Monday at Tomlin's press conference.

Tomlin's press conference is on Monday compared to the normal Tuesday date and time, due to the Steelers traveling to Baltimore to face the Ravens on Thursday night this week.
