Steelers vs. Jets: Cameron Heyward to start over Ziggy Hood

New, comments

Apparently, Cameron Heyward not starting over Ziggy Hood is more than just a sub-package thing.

Multiple sources Tweeted Tuesday the Steelers will give Cameron Heyward the start in Week 6 over veteran Ziggy Hood.

We questioned Monday why he wasn't, suggesting he appears to be more of the explosive player of the two.

Still, both players, as well as Brett Keisel, have value in different circumstances and the three of them will still rotate to some degree. Hood was averaging 47 snaps per game and Heyward 29, so the difference between the two isn't astronomical anyway.

Along with the change at left tackle - a spot that will be filled by either Levi Brown or Kelvin Beachum in Week 6 - the Steelers will list Vince Williams as a starter over Kion Wilson as well.

A source told Behind the Steel Curtain Shamarko Thomas will receive more snaps with the base defense moving forward as well.

These moves aren't exactly earth-shattering, and there probably isn't much tinkering the team can do with their lineup. Still, it may be enough to shake some life into a team that's yet to win a game this season.
